The vision for this project was to transform a quaint suburban residence into a striking yet inviting architectural masterpiece. By adopting industrial finishes, the aim was to celebrate the history of the suburban neighborhood, where once factories and warehouses thrived. Our approach fuses robust textures, raw materials, and minimalist design principles to create a seamless transition from the original structure to the new extension.

Materials and Finishes:

1. Steel and Glass: The extension will prominently feature steel-framed windows and doors, providing an abundance of natural light while imparting an industrial character. Blackened steel will be used for railings, accents, and structural elements, serving as a unifying element throughout the design.
2. Concrete: Polished concrete floors will be introduced both inside and outside, offering a modern and low-maintenance finish. Exposed concrete walls in selected spaces will further reinforce the industrial theme.
3. Wood: To balance the rawness of industrial elements, warm wood finishes will be utilized for cabinetry, ceilings, and selected interior features. Reclaimed wood from the region will be employed to emphasize sustainability and local character.

Architectural Features:

1. Open Plan Living: The ground floor will embrace an open-plan layout with a double-height living area, creating a sense of grandeur. Large steel-framed windows and sliding glass doors will provide seamless connectivity to the outdoor spaces.
2. Mezzanine Workspace: A steel-framed mezzanine level will house a flexible workspace with views overlooking the living area. This space will serve as a quiet retreat while maintaining a connection to the activity below.
3. Rooftop Terrace: The extension will feature a rooftop terrace, accessible via an industrial-style steel staircase. This space will provide panoramic views of the surrounding suburban landscape and serve as an entertainment area.
